Have you ever noticed how on sitcoms, there is (almost) always the mindless conservative that is intended to look like a complete fool and then the "educated" liberal that corrects the conservative? For example, Stewie and Brian on Family Guy (an awful show). This same thing goes into other genres, where the protagonist is almost always a liberal. And that's not even to mention that every news station in the country (except FOX) is extremely liberally biased.

I know that it is their right to air what they want (within so-called "reason", or what the censoring government allows), but still, it's kinda stupid that so many shows that aren't even RELATED to politics throw so much in there, without giving a decent representation of both sides. I know that is because the majority of people that go into the entertainment business are also liberal, but still...they could make a little effort, or at least just not put politics in there when it's not related at all...

Anyway, it's lawn mowing time.

JD on "Legalizing Marijuana"

If President Obama were to legalize the use of Marijuana in the US, he would not only make a TON of people happy, but would also stop the illegal use of marijuana (since it isn't illegal anymore).

However, more people would use it, leading to heath problems.

This would boost the economy temporarily if the government had a monopoly of being the sole marijuana distributor... but if it didn't set up this monopoly it wouldn't have many good short-term effects.

Are you for or against this? Why? Any more pros/cons to this argument?

(sources are great too!)

In the US, the driving age starts at 15.5 in most states, with a full drivers license at age 16. In Europe and other places in the world, it starts at 18, and in others, none.

Should this be changed? Driving ages and drinking ages have proven to be very important went put together. How should, if it should, the current driving age be changed. Or is it about right right now?

Isn't technology scary? I'm posting this from my brand new DSi. A Gameboy. It has two cameras, a touch screen, a microphone, and Wi-Fi. Seven years ago I got a Gameboy Color and thought that was advanced. It had color games and almost fit in your pocket. If our technological knowledge expands exponentially as it has been, what do you think the effects on the human race will be? Will we grow fat and lazy until we die of self neglect? Will the computers take over the world? What kinds of technologies do you think we'll have ten years from now?

In the US, the drinking age is currently at 21. Should the be decreased to a lower age? Increased?

In Europe, it ranges in the teens. There are some clear benifits to this, such as allowing parents to teach their kids proper drinking habits, and learning to control their drinking before they can even drive (driving age is set at 18).

What are your thoughts? What do you see the pros/cons as?

Some high schools are being forced to hold their graduation ceremonies due to some people being very cautious of seperation of church and state.

Should schools and workplaces regulate how people dress by making them all wear the same thing or limit what they can wear?

In work places, there is already "business dress", but what if a work place were to make it more strict? Or have uniforms for all employees?

In schools, dress codes are already in place (more strict on the female side). What if public schools went to uniforms? Why good/bad effects would this have on the social lives of students?
