Ok so just as a side note ik that no one has been on here in like months but im posting any way

and in response to your comment, they arent necessarily putting politics into the show. what party you belong two depends on your views on subjects not the other way around. and in such shows as family guy when the "conservative" is being corrected by the "liberal" they arent always talking about political issues. and the reason they put it in the shows is also because many people watching it find it humorous. and do u have any idea how hard it would be to make almost any show and not included politics? im just reacting to the "they could make a little effort" part because its not like making a hit tv show is easy.

Have you ever noticed how on sitcoms, there is (almost) always the mindless conservative that is intended to look like a complete fool and then the "educated" liberal that corrects the conservative? For example, Stewie and Brian on Family Guy (an awful show). This same thing goes into other genres, where the protagonist is almost always a liberal. And that's not even to mention that every news station in the country (except FOX) is extremely liberally biased.

I know that it is their right to air what they want (within so-called "reason", or what the censoring government allows), but still, it's kinda stupid that so many shows that aren't even RELATED to politics throw so much in there, without giving a decent representation of both sides. I know that is because the majority of people that go into the entertainment business are also liberal, but still...they could make a little effort, or at least just not put politics in there when it's not related at all...

Anyway, it's lawn mowing time.

Obama would get no support. Whether marijuana should be legalized or not, a huge portion of Congress are too big of pussies to vote for it, even if they like the idea, because they would never get reelected. People vote with their hearts, not their brains. While marijuana will help the economy, nearly no mother can stand the thought of their little baby smoking weed.

4. Do you know how few criminals escape from maximum security prisons? Neither do I, but it's not many. Saves room in prisons ain't a great one as many people end up sitting there waiting 10+ years to finish their final appeal. Closure? Prison is about keeping the public safe from criminals. Saying that someone should die so a family gets some "closure" is just absurd.

1. It depends on the level of the baby's development. It's not just like, it pops out of the mother's **** and can suddenly think. It's a gradual process. How can you say that at one moment it can't think, and then at another, it can. If that is all you are defining humanity as, then how can you say that at one moment, it is not a human, and the next, it is. To be accurate, conception is the only fundamental change a baby goes through. After that, it just grows. So, without a fundamental change, how can it start being a human? By that logic, if you think that you are a human, then you should also think you were a human from the moment of conception.

More than half (56 percent) of young drivers use cell phones while driving,
69 percent said that they speed to keep up with traffic
64 percent said they speed to go through a yellow light.
47 percent said that passengers sometimes distract them.
Nearly half said they believed that most crashes involving teens result from drunk driving."

JD, i agree humans probably will all die out because of some stupid mistake, but what if that mistake is technology?

Though i think technology may be destroying some of the values in the world. I don't think that artificial intelligence is going to happen, it will cause so much controversy in the world it will never reach large scale, but if it does maybe that is the stupid mistake we make.

1. it will be a human. Whether u are preventing a life, of just ending one the result is the same.

2. No

3. Even if a baby is created by rape, at least the mother will still love it. Also, people who adopt will love the children too.

4. It is both their decisions, but as it has been expressed previously in this topic, it is ultimately the mother's decision. Though if number 2 were true this wouldn't matter

I agree with Nic's extra note. It will happen, and it should be the mother's decision

1. JD/Nic: By this standard, a newly born baby should not count as human because it can't think logically and doesn't have the development mentally to have a "soul".
2. Murder is illegal as well, but it still happens. If it were legalized but done in special facilities, it would be less painful. Should we legalize it?
3. Really, this whole thing comes down to whether you think the fetus is human or not. If the fetus IS human, then you shouldn't be allowed to kill it no matter what, including rape cases. If it isn't human, then there is no reason to make abortion illegal at all (unless, as in Battlestar Galactica, they are trying to keep the human race alive and the population is diminishing...).

If an algorithm is developed that allows a computer to learn by going through problem-solving and finding similarities between past problems, it will develop like a child and slowly learn how to live. Whether this is put towards cancer research or not, that is basically how it would happen.

1) Human DNA does not make something human. A human is more than just a cluster of cells, it is also a mind and a soul. However, just because it is not a human (yet) does not mean it shouldn't be allowed to live its life.
2) As Nic said, abortions will take place no matter what. It is illegal to text while driving in some areas, but people still do it. If it is possible to make abortions safe, let it happen. There are things that you just have to allow no matter how much you disagree with them.
4) I think the father's opinion matters more than has been shown by the discussion so far. The fetus is half of him, and he should have an equal say in the matter. Though this might lead to many, many more court hearings on whether the abortion should come it, the back-alley abortion might eventually happen if the court rules in the father's hypothetical "pro-life" plea. As Nic said, couples can (and should be able to) work it out.

1) Both. But David is right, murder is based on intention. So ultimately it is the person responsible. Though there are lesser degrees of murder such as manslaughter. It still has consequences but you wouldn't get the death penalty for that.

4) It is proven statistically that when people are allowed to carry concealed arms, crime rates go down. You're not going to go rob someplace if you know you could be shot. Even though chances are you won't be shot, the thought of it is a deterrent.

Legalizing it would boost the economy. There's an entire county in California where it is legal to grow, sell, and use marijuana. The entire economy is based of marijuana. But that's not really smart economics. Marijuana is dangerous if not used right, and most people are stupid if/when they use it. But a buddy of mine told me that there was a computer programmed to try different problem solving for one problem, and once the problem was solved using one way, the computer saved the way it solved the problem and moved on to another problem. The whole process repeated. My friend said that eventually if that could be put to use for medical purposes a cure for cancer would be able to be discovered, among other cures. It's far fetched but eventually I believe it can happen.

1) I don't know. Can it think like a developed thinker can? No. It might think. I don't really know. It is alive. That's all I know.
2) Yes. It kind of has to be allowed if you're going to allow it for a rape case. Rape cases are hard to prove. And someone could just as easily fake a rape to get an abortion.
3) The whole 'if only' thing really can't work. Until rapes can be proven 100%, then it will have to be allowed for everyone.
4) Ultimately it is the mother's decision. But the couple can work it out.

Note: This is such a gray area so I really have a hard time siding with one side. I'm pro life, yes. But rape cases are prevalent and are going to happen. I don't think state sanctioned murder is right, so therefore it would be logical for me to disagree with abortion. But I really think it is the mother's choice. In a perfect world there would be no abortions. But contraceptives aren't always used, surprise sex happens, what can you do? Abortions would happen anyway, even if it were illegal. Why not have it done in a safer manner?

I don't care what religion has to say. I really only care about what the mother has to say.

2) Humanity does change. Opinions change, industries change, economics change, and technology changes. Those are all parts of humanity. And morals have changed as well, just look at the Civil Rights. Maybe 'change' isn't really the right word, maybe 'adapt' would be more sufficient. Or 'accept.'
3) Clinically gay... no. Born gay? Yes. It's in your chemistry. You know when your libido develops whether you like the same sex, the opposite sex, or both sexes. It's not like you can overcome that. Pretend... maybe. Maybe you can pretend to be what is deemed socially acceptable. But it is still a part of who you are. That will never change.
4) Separation of church and state is just that. It's really too bad that the government worries so much about offending one major religion (Christianity) over another. Religion has no place in government.
5) Marriage is just what David said- civil union. Matrimony is religious, pertaining to Christianity. If you want a civil union, go for it. Until the church accepts homosexuals there probably will be no same sex marriages in the religious sense, but in the legal sense, civil unions (marriage in a different context) should be legal.

1) No
2) Humanity doesn't change—why should its moral code?
3) …
4) Absolutely not
5) Marriage should not be a legal thing. Both gay and straight couples should get civil unions—marriage should be a strictly religious thing, only approved by religious establishments, and have no legal significance.

Pirates, most definitely. Money always beats physical strength, as money can buy physical strength, amongst infinite other things. For example, a well-trained marine could probably beat Bill Gates in hand-to-hand combat, but Bill Gates could hire 10,000 marines to blow the single marine from existence.

But do remember that pirates and ninjas are from different areas, unless they are Asian Pirates, which are most likely ninjas anyways. An Atlantic pirate wouldn't go away from the Atlantic because there are no places to sell his goods in Asia or west-America. A smart ninja wouldn't leave the Pacific for the Atlantic because they would be too far away from their spiritual home center and would lose their ability to concentrate.
